Tape extensions are removed with a liquid solution, Here at Cliphair we have a gentle oil based citrus tape hair remover that easily loosens tapes and removes them.

A lot of removers are alcohol based and can have a very strong acetone smell which is not very pleasant and can be irritating to your scalp. We advise using oil based removers as they are kinder the the skin and hair. To remove the tapes using the remover solution generously spray the top of the tab a few times, leave for 30 seconds then you should feel the tab starting to loosen.

Gently pull the tape away from the hair, if the tape is being stubborn and feels very secure you can use the end of a pin tail comb to carefully prise the tabs apart. Once you have removed one side of the sandwich, respray and repeat for the underneath section. To re-tape tape hair extensions you will first need to remove the old sticky tab from the weft.

Most of this will come off during the removal process however some of the residue may stick around, you need to remove this before re-taping. To remove any leftover residue, use a little more spray and using your nail you can peel the remaining adhesive away from the tab.

This should peel off in one easy strip if the residue is being stubborn we find running the tab under water can help. Once you have removed all of the previous adhesive you now need to wash and dry the hair, we advise using a strong conditioning mask on the hair after any removal service to rehydrate the extensions.

Once the hair is clean, dry and smooth you can start to re-tape the extensions, to do this you will need a new pack of sticky tape tabs. Here at Cliphair we have a pack of perfectly sized Spare tape tabs to re-apply to your hair extensions. Simply peel a tab away from the plastic sheet and apply onto the side that used be the sticky before you removed the residue.

Leave the paper seal intact until you are ready to apply the tapes again. The tabs are double sided so you will not need to apply them twice, one side will stick to the extension weft and the other to the hair. All tape hair extensions should be removed and re-installed after weeks of wear, sometimes sooner depending on your hairs growth cycle and overall condition of your extensions.

After weeks of having your extensions in, your own hair will have started to grow and the extensions move with it creating a larger gap between the tab and your scalp. Its at this stage that the hair could start to matt and tangle as there is more room for the hair to get stuck between your extensions, this is why it is important to have them removed by 8 weeks of wear to prevent any damage occurring to your own hair.

While most extensions can withstand heat styling, use low heat and avoid tugging on your hair to keep the tape bond strong. Keep your extensions properly moisturized with conditioner, and keep regular appointments with your stylist to ensure your extensions will last as long as possible. Tape in hair extensions can be removed and reinstalled several times before the set should be replaced.

Clients typically reinstall their extensions if they want to maintain their hair at a certain length or if they feel that the extensions are coming loose, which can happen after extended use or daily wear and tear.

Tape in hair extensions generally maintain a stronger bond if they are placed close to the scalp, which helps provide them with extra support. Never try to take your hair extensions out yourself. Doing so could damage your extensions and cause you to rip out pieces of your natural hair. The extensions can then be gently removed from the hair, which should be washed, conditioned, and dried to remove any leftover adhesive removing liquid.

To reinstall the extensions, your stylist will simply place new tape on either side of your natural hair and attach the extensions.

Not clip-in hair extensions, not halo hair extensions. You want tape-ins, not anything else. The short answer is, six to eight weeks up to nine to ten weeks, depending on which expert you consult. Your daily hair care regimen can greatly affect how long your hair extensions will last. Tape-in hair extensions are meant to be reused for up to three to four times but stay on your hair majority of the time.

Using tape-in hair extensions is pretty simple. When that happens, you have to move them up, and the process is repeated. The thing is, the action of removing and replacing them over and over again is damaging for tape-ins. If you choose hair extensions that are non-Remy and cheaply made, then you better not expect them to last as long as Remy human hair extensions.

ZALA Hair, for example, uses only the best quality for our ZALA tape-in hair extensions , making sure that each one will last as long as you need them to.
